Menu Driven Query Tool

A menu-driven, ad-hoc query tool allows users to extract individual records or aggregated summary measures (e.g., counts, sums) from data. The tool allows users to perform many of the processes in data selection and preparation without using a programming language.

Users can:

  • select items from the variable list,
  • impose conditions by defining criteria on variable values to be included and excluded from the data (e.g., select males and exclude females from final data),
  • perform calculations on variables in the data,
  • specify the final table layout,
  • sort results,
  • export the results in standard data formats (e.g., csv or txt file), and
  • save the rules specifying the query for future use.

Directions for access:

  • NCOVR uses Discoverer Plus version 10gBI. We no longer support earlier versions.
  • First time users who do not already have Java 2 version 1.4.2_04 installed on their computer will be prompted to download and install this software.
  • Netscape Navigator users must have Netscape 3.0 or later.
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer users must have Internet Explorer version 4.72.31 10.8 or later.
